When a child experiences a complication which involves hearing loss, it is important to consider available solutions to avoid further damage on the child hearing ability. The use of hearing aid is one common way or solution for hearing loss problems, and this also tested to be very helpful for a hearing impaired child so to avoid the continuing hearing loss.
Pediatric audiologist suggest hearing aids and hearing devices for children known as Category 1, generally classified by the FDA. There are also some devices that are classified much higher according to the hearing requirement needed by the user. Though Category 1 hearing aids may not be enough for your child, this can be more ample if you are considering the cost issues of the hearing aid.
Over-the-counter hearing aids are also characterized as Category 1 devices or hearing amplification devices. More parents would more likely choose this type of devices compared to hearing aids prescribed by expert because OTC hearing aids cost lesser. But we must also consider that this could create a greater health risk to your child and even lead to further loss of hearing.
