There are several ways to prevent hearing loss, though we are still going to experience this someday, it is still better to prevent this impairment to happen during our younger ages. Taking good care of ears by simply avoiding loud sounds or minimizing the exposure of our ears to loud sound can be very helpful to get our ears out from the troubles of hearing loss.

Hearing loss can be classified in different types and degrees. It is very important for us to be aware about these types and stages to avoid early loss of our hearing sense as well as to understand the impairment.

The three types of hearing loss are:

Conductive – caused by things like wax in the ears.

Sensorineural – involving the inner ear or the nerve cells.

Mixed – combination of conductive and sensorineural loss.

The degrees of hearing loss

Mild – At 26-45 db, a little difficulty hearing speech.

Moderate – At 46-65 db, more difficulty hearing speech.

Severe – At 66-85 db, a lot of difficulty hearing speech.

Profound – Anything over 85 db. With this level of hearing loss, hearing aids can or cannot help.
