In order to diagnose certain illnesses regarding the senses especially in our middle ear, the doctors must conduct certain diagnostic exam to diagnose the condition. One example of such diagnostic exam would be the tympanometry. Tympanometry comes from the word “tympanic” membrane which is popularly known as our ear drum. In this test, the ear drums are being measure when the air pressure is being changed inside the ear. This test determines the reaction of our ear drum as the waves of air pressure inside the ear is altered. During this test, the doctor will make sure first that the ear path is clear by using an otoscope then they will insert a certain device that will produce such tone inside your ear that changes the air pressure thus making your ear drum moves. One important consideration while taking this test is that the patient should avoid speaking, moving, swallowing or feeling being anxious or surprise for it will reflect annul results. After the test, the doctor will release a result and that is termed as tympanogram.

Don’t be afraid to submit yourself in this diagnostic test for it will do no harm for you but you will feel a little uncomfortable since the air pressure in your ear changes.
