In order to perform the audiometric test, the doctor will need to use the audiometer to fully determine the hearing levels of an individual. This test has also the ability to test the person’s capability to distinguish sounds between the background noise from the speech coming from another person, identifies pitches and distinguish different sound intensification. This test is usually taken for individuals having hearing problems then doctors study the result termed as the Audiogram to identify the patient’s problem whether they are having hearing loss or having diseases of the ear. Having these tests in an early stage is making an early diagnosis thus starting your treatment early to avoid future complications.

Audiometers are available in manual or automatic but still having the same instructions before the exam. Before starting the exam, the doctor will conduct initial interview on the patient regarding its past medical history, medications taken, and events that can affect that hearing ability. After the interview, the patient is asked to remove all the metals worn near the ears such as the necklace, earrings, spectacles and even hearing aids. Ear phones are then placed to both ears then the proper test is conducted to the patient as the doctor assesses them.
