Know When You’re Hearing Impaired
General May 22nd, 2010
Here are some signs to know if you are hearing impaired:
1. Being in crowds- while you are in crowds, everything becomes a jumble of noises with no clarity, finding it difficult to clarify sounds and really not be able to distinguish anything.
2. Choosing which ear- favoring one ear over the other when you are listening to sound. This can easily be detected when you talk on a phone. You will find yourself placing the receiver on the ear that produces better sound.
3. Radio or TV- how loud you have the radio or TV it is a good indication that you may have some hearing loss. The sound may sound normal while others in the room cannot hear what is being said due to it being so loud.
4. Talking loudly- if you are talking more loudly during a conversation this can be a good indication your hearing is failing. When your ears cannot pick up the sounds that you make when speaking.
5. Mumbling- listening to a conversation but cannot quite make out what is being said, thinking that they are mumbling. Peoples voice has not changed it may be your hearing.
6. Repeating words- continually asking people what they are saying, it is a good indication that you are experiencing hearing loss. Telling people to repeat themselves is a sure sign of hearing loss if it is used every time others talk and you just do not understand what they are saying.
