The most important thing in your hearing aid is the battery since it is the life of your hearing aid. That is why you need to make sure that you maintain your hearing aid battery properly. There are a few things that you should know to ensure that your battery will last as long as possible. Here are a few tips to maintaining your hearing aid battery.

  1. Tabs – If you are using a zinc-air hearing aid battery, then you should need to leave the tab on even if you’re not using it. These types of batteries are activated by the time you pull the tab off and it is exposed to air. That is why you need to leave the tab on your hearing aid when the hearing aid battery is not being used.
  2. Storage – You should make sure that you store your hearing aid battery at a room temperature always.  The battery should never be stored in hot areas such as the dashboard in your car.
  3. Compartment – You should take your hearing aid battery out at night when you are not using it. Because during this time, you can ventilate the battery compartment of your hearing aid. This will also prevent moisture from getting into the battery compartment and causing damage.
  4. Drying – A lot of people are putting their hearing aid in a dryer overnight. But you should make sure that you have to take your battery out before you place the device in the dryer, because this will dry up the electrolytes and it will considerably shorten its lifespan.
  5. Tester – You should invest in a battery tester, because you it will allow you to know if how much power the hearing aid battery has left so that it won‘t cut out on you in an important time.
