Talking loudly- if you are talking more loudly during a conversation this can be a good indication your hearing is failing. When your ears cannot pick up the sounds that you make when speaking.
Mumbling- listening to a conversation but cannot quite make out what is being said, thinking that they are mumbling. Peoples voice has not changed it may be your hearing.
Repeating words- continually asking people what they are saying, it is a good indication that you are experiencing hearing loss. Telling people to repeat themselves is a sure sign of hearing loss if it is used every time others talk and you just do not understand what they are saying.
Getting the story straight- it is quite likely that you will misinterpret what other people are telling you, getting the story mixed up and relay the wrong information to someone else because you are not hearing it.
Being in crowds- while you are in crowds, everything becomes a jumble of noises with no clarity, finding it difficult to clarify sounds and really not be able to distinguish anything.
Choosing which ear- favoring one ear over the other when you are listening to sound. This can easily be detected when you talk on a phone. You will find yourself placing the receiver on the ear that produces better sound.
Radio or TV- how loud you have the radio or TV it is a good indication that you may have some hearing loss. The sound may sound normal while others in the room cannot hear what is being said due to it being so loud.

1) Self Prescribing – when it comes to choosing the right hearing instrument, listen to your hearing professional, not to anybody. Hearing professionals have the education and training that make them uniquely qualified to help you.
2) Giving up – a huge mistake. Fitting for hearing devices is not as easy as being fit for a pair of shoes. It can often take several follow-up visits before getting the right fit for you. Always buy hearing aids with a trial period, if they aren’t right for you, you can have them returned.
3) Buying Hearing Aids in a Physician’s Office – sounds like it should be the best place to buy, wrong – even though you are in a Physician’s office and probably working with an Audiologist, they generally know nothing about hearing aids. They can prescribe medications and perform surgery; they do not fit hearing aids.
4) Putting Off Buying Hearing Aids – don’t wait till hearing loss is worse to get the help you need; it might develop to auditory deprivation. Auditory deprivation can occur when someone does not wear any hearing aids, or when they wear one, but need two aids.
5) Buying Hearing Aids Mail Order or Direct Online – this doesn’t refer to companies that include local professional care, they are fine. The companies were talking about are the ones that sell the cheap $19.95 products, or quality hearing aids without professional care. Not one major hearing aid manufacturer authorizes the sale of their products without direct professional care.

Hearing aids plays an important role in the lives of those who are suffering from hearing deficiency. It makes them more capable of communicating with other people as well as giving them the chance to develop their lifestyle, away from any form of embarrassment and criticism. It has made a big impact on their social well being and had given them a good prospect towards life.
As hearing aid manufacturers are striving to provide support to hearing impaired citizens, indeed they are on the right way of creating the most helpful and effective types of hearing aids. They are always looking for new ways to attract more patients, creating more “invisible” hearing aids has been a top priority for most of them.
One of the most recent inventions in the hearing aid world is the Lyric together with Wow! Both Lyric and Wow! Fit very deep into the ear canal right before your eardrum and it is so small that it literally cannot be seen! Wear them 24 hours a day, you can sleep with them, and you can shower with them. No controls are needed to manipulate and the reportedly have decent sound quality and they can be programmed to fit your hearing loss.
As we consider these hearing aids, both Lyric and Wow! Are very expensive, ranging from $1,700 – $2,000 per year per ear! This is about three times as much as you would spend on the most expensive hearing instruments available today.

1) Overpaying- one of the ways you can avoid this, is to simply tell the specialist that you want to think about hearing aids before you buy them. They shouldn’t have a problem with you doing that. Ask them for how much they will sell you the aid and what’s included such as warranty, return privilege, return fees, loss and damage fees, service fees, etc.
2) Buying More Hearing Aid Than Necessary – your lifestyle or hearing loss is such that you will not benefit any more from the most advanced hearing aid than the less advanced. Most offices allow trial periods on hearing devices. Unless you just know you want the top of the line, try hearing aids a step or two down first.
3) Not Buying a Good Enough Hearing Aid – by buying top of line is not always best, buying a bottom of line hearing aid can also wrong. Often it would be well worth a couple of hundred dollars extra to buy a hearing aid more suitable to your needs.
4) Buying Under Pressure – factory representatives will typically tell you that if you don’t puchase immediately then you will miss out on the incredible savings that they are offering. If you come back to them in a couple weeks, they would probably offer the same deal.
5) Sales Gimmicks – hearing aid trade-ins? There’s no such thing, factory authorized sales, and most other discount offers are gimmicks designed to trick you into thinking you are getting a great deal. Sometimes the hearing aids are marked up so they can be discounted to the regular price.

People who are suffering from hearing deficiency or hearing loss mostly have their social life isolated to other people. They are a bit hesitant to let other people know about their situation or have them understand their condition when communicating with each other.
Mobile phones for hearing impaired persons are very helpful when we speak about communication, here are some:
GE: for those who suffers from moderate to severe hearing loss, GE’s big button amplified phones is the answer, a phone with graphic equalizers that can customize the phone for a person’s hearing loss, and have ringer amplification up to 90dB and a handset boost up to 40dB. The amplified base speakerphone works like a charm, enhanced visual ringer, and vibrating alert, so no calls are missed.
Clarity: known for amplifying only the sounds the listener wants to hear while reducing irrelevant and unwanted background noise. An audio output jack that can be connected to a headset, a neck loop, or a cochlear implant, the phones can amplify an incoming voice for a 60dB gain and compatible with hearing aids.
ClearSounds: offers hearing impaired cordless phones for people who need the versatility and mobility in a cordless phone. With amplification up to 50dB, has a tone controls that affect both low and high frequencies, a vibrating alert in the handset and a loud ringer, calls won’t be missed.
Ameriphone: offers a variety of amplified corded phones that both increase. Slide control gives the moderately hearing impaired user the ability to adjust the tone range.

Hearing deficiency is difficult condition to have especially when it happened at a young age. People who have hearing deficiency or hearing loss also suffer from deprivation of happiness with their social life. It can be difficult for them to participate to some activities together with people who have normal hearing senses.
Hearing aids are very important communicating tools for hearing impaired persons. There are several types of hearing aids available for them to use. The most recent type can help them to hear almost the same as normal persons does, but it is still important to have a hearing aid that is ample to your needs.
Here are the three basic types of hearing aids:
1. Conventional hearing aids- the very first types and brands of hearing aids which were released in the market. It can be adjusted in a way that will fit the user’s needs. Volume is manually adjusted by the user.
2. Programmable hearing aids- more advanced in terms of technology, as compared to the conventional type. It has adjustable circuits which may be adjusted; volume control is automatic, making life easier for the patient.
3. Digital hearing aids- the best and most convenient type to use, easier to wear and is “kinder” to the ears which also includes automatic volume control.
4. Disposable hearing aids- offer the sound quality of a conventional hearing aid and are more cost-effective. Disposable hearing aids have a shorter shelf-life; a new one should be purchased if the battery expires.
